A Wudu station is a designated area or facility for performing Wudu, the Islamic ritual cleansing before prayer. Taps, proper drainage, soap dispenser and comfortable standing or seating are the main components of a Wudu station.
Based on local regulations with regards to apartment building/renovation works, a Wudu station can only be placed in the
original designated wet areas of the home which are the kitchen, bathrooms, balcony and service yard.
Beautifying the walls with Islamic patterned tiles, ensuring the area is well ventilated and having ample standing/sitting space are key factors to consider when designing a Wudu station.
Medina Design & Interiors Recommends:
Generally in Singapore homes, Wudu is performed in bathrooms using the main shower tap or the wash basin tap. We recommend just adding another additional water point in the common bathroom with a retractable wall tap for homes that have large families or are regularly hosting events. Water saving devices are strongly encouraged too.
